Justo Díaz is considered a legend of the Latin American music scene in Australia and a pioneer of what is now known as “world music” here.
He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, researcher and educator who moved to Australia in 1979 after touring with a French-Argentinian dance troupe.
He founded the program Café Carnivale for the festival circuit and was Music Director for the Carnivale Multicultural Arts Festival, playing a significant role in sharing Latin American music traditions in Sydney.
He has assembled a remarkable collection of over 300 musical instruments from Latin America through his research work and performances.
His work bridges classical, folk and jazz traditions, bringing together deep musical scholarship and the joy of live performance.
